Small Groups

Small Groups are a way to experience life with other people from church. We believe authentic Christian community is essential for a healthy and growing follower of Christ. We believe in doing life together, and one way of accomplishing that is through small groups.

Why Small Groups?
The goal of small groups at Grace Church is to become more like Christ. Christian character is shaped primarily through sharing life in koinonia, or genuine Christian community

What Happens at a Small Group Meeting?
While groups focus on biblical principles of growing in Christ, the emphasis is not on Bible study. Instead, groups discuss concepts and ideas springing from the Sunday morning message and how it applies to our lives. Participants who have not heard the sermon are still able to connect to the discussion. Each gathering lasts about 90 minutes. There are opportunities to share needs, pray, fellowship, and enjoy a snack.

How Big Are Small Groups?
Most groups begin with 8-10 people. Each group has a trial period of 8 weeks. Newcomers may be added during this time. If the group seems like a good mix, it will continue. If it is not a good fit, groups or individuals may disband with “no questions asked,” and “no need for guilt.” Individuals may go back to StartUp to try a different group.

How Do I Join A Group?
The first step in joining a small group is to fill out a Small Group Sign Up form or by contacting the Church Office. The second step for getting involved in Small Groups at Grace Church is to attend a Start Up. There will be StartUp classes periodically following BFC’s Connecting Class. StartUp is an opportunity to come find out more about how Small Groups operate and learn how to put a Small Group together. To find out when the next StartUp begins or sign up for small groups, contact the Church Office.

When Do Small Groups Meet?
Groups are free to meet any time except Sunday morning  worship services. Groups should meet at least twice a month; however the ideal is to meet once a week.

Where Do Groups Meet?
Each group decides whether to rotate between group members’ homes or choose one home to meet in.
